In 2012 North Queensland Tourism Awards , Lees received the Finalist Award for "Unique Accommodation",something to be proud of when you consider the number of motels in North Queensland. The Motel accommodation Is built over the site of the "Day Dawn Hotel' made famous by Slim Dusty . The entire Motel has been extensively refurbished throughout 2011/2012. Some interesting guests and visitors over the years include the Governor of Queensland in 2007. The American Ambassador, complete with bodyguards, made a special trip in 2010 and has featured on Channel 7's Sunrise as well as Channel 10's travel magazine program. Within the recently refurbished Motel are 20 ensuite motel rooms. All of the beds are Sealy ensembles for absolute comfort with pillow top mattresses and colour-coded finishes . Facilities include a restaurant with seating for over 120 people (just great for family or business functions), a Beer garden/Garden bar with a lawn area for the children to play, Caf�© bistro with �  la carte and alfresco dining . The Motel and Restaurant house the largest permanent arts exhibition of the natural wonders of the Hinchinbrook Shire as well as an extensive display of memorabilia covering the sugarcane industry and local history dating back to 1883. Creek Valley Rainforest Retreat is nature based and ideal for relaxation. The peaceful privacy is perfect. Accommodation is strictly non-smoking and suited for a maximum of eight guests, ideally four adults and up to four children.The house features two main bedrooms, privately positioned diagonally opposite each other. The third bedroom is designed for children with a bunk bed, a single bed and a trundle. All rooms and a gourmet kitchen open on to a spacious living area with comfortable sofas and a dining table. A four-metre wide bi-fold door connects the living area with a shady veranda featuring a second eight-chair table setting. The only sounds you will hear in the valley are those from wildlife and the running creek. The retreat is totally secluded, yet only 20 minutes north of Ingham, a well-supplied town with a strong Italian influence. The nearby Hinchinbrook Channel is a fishing mecca, the restored Tyto Wetlands form a birdwatchers paradise and the historic Dalrymple Gap Track is a must for hikers.

The Buujan Quiinbiira (Boo-jun quin bee-rr-ar) walk starts at Wallaman Falls in the Girringun National Park and winds its way over the Herbert River to the Yamanie pick-up point. The trail is difficult and runs 37.5 kilometres one way. A picturesque waterfall on Waterview Creek, rainforest, vine forest and open woodland feature in this popular section of Paluma Range National Park in the foothills of the Seaview Range. Rainforest grows on the higher slopes and fringes the creek. Poplar gum, bloodwood, Moreton Bay ash and cocky apple trees are common in the open woodland. Jourama Falls, Paluma National Park, is within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Jourama Falls in Paluma Range National Park offers beautiful places to relax, camp, walk and enjoy watching birds, butterflies and other native wildlife. Enjoy a picnic in the cool air at the day-use area near the first causeway. In the rainforest along the creek, look for the buff-breasted paradise-kingfisher which arrives here from Papua New Guinea between October and April. Camp at the popular Jourama Falls camping area or take a stroll along the three kilometre return track to view Jourama Falls, Waterview Creek and surrounding rainforest. Look for the distinctive red flowers of weeping bottlebrush trees overhanging the creek, which attract the brilliant blue Ulysses butterfly....

Jourama Falls track is located within the Paluma Range National Park. Jourama Falls is picturesque waterfall on Waterview Creek. The 3 kilometre return track to Jourama Falls lookout starts at the end of the road, 700 metres past the main camping area. A pleasant walk through open woodland leads you to a creek crossing. At the signposted junction, about 100 metres beyond the creek crossing, continue to the lookout or visit the creek further upstream. The 600 metre track to the lookout is all uphill but you will be rewarded with views out over the falls and the surrounding rainforest. Never jump or dive into water and be careful at the water's edge. Rocks can be extremely slippery and submerged timber can appear after flooding. Fatalities and serious injuries have occurred here. Do not attempt to cross strong flowing creeks and streams....
