An established wildlife corridor and the use of bird attracting native plants ensures frequent visits by koalas, wallabies, rufous bettongs and other mammals as well as myriad bird life.

Wander around the trails in our wildlife corridor for an easy bushwalk or the more adventurous can hike up the hill for spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

Friendly farm animals - cows and calves, alpacas and chickens are particularly popular with visiting children.

Lake Somerset

Lake Somerset is just south of Kilcoy and is a very popular boating and recreational spot. Motorised and non-motorised watercraft are allowed on Lake Somerset along with waterskiing, jet skiing, and wakeboarding. Boat ramps are available at three locations across the lake and can be found at The Spit, Kirkleagh and Westvale road. The lake is also a great fishing spot either from your boat or along the shoreline. Don't forget to grab your boating and fishing permits before heading out or dropping a line. If you would rather be in the water than on it, take a dip at the designated swimming areas at The Spit and Kirkleagh. These areas also provide picnic and barbecue facilities, along with Somerset Park, so make the most of if and enjoy the whole day by the water. If you want to stay longer there are a number of private campgrounds, holiday houses and retreats close by. They have been used by the natives of South America for hundreds of years as pack animals, and now Ottaba Llamas offer you the opportunity to take your own llama for a trek through their beautiful area. Their friendly llamas will be your companion as you lead them through countryside using the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Their llamas are affectionate, intelligent and will make your walk special and unique. A great activity to do with the family, why not join them on one of their walks along the rail trail or their Winery llama walk. They have a llama or alpaca to suit everyone. You can also arrange a time to visit Ottaba Llamas where you can come and meet their various camilds - Llamas, Alpacas and their Camel, as well as the usual farm animals - mini goats, cattle, horses, sheep and pigs. A great opportunity to take a Llama for a walk on one of their Treks in the Brisbane Valley Region, Queensland or arrange a visit to spend some time with their llamas and other animals....
