Menangle is part of the Wollondilly Shire. Established as a village to service the operations of Camden Park Estate, the railway bridge over the Nepean River is the oldest in use today. The opening of the railway in 1863 enabled overnight milk deliveries to the Sydney Market, beating the summer heat in the days before refrigeration. The Store, built in 1904, sells everything from antiques to groceries to saddlery and ice creams.
Macarthur's Progressive Wine Lunch is held in and around Camden and includes a visit to three venues. Starters are at Fussy Grape Winery, main meal is at Trattoria La Vigna Restaurant and dessert is at Razorback Ridge Wines. Wine tasting is included at all venues and a glass of wine is included with mains and dessert. Please note that this is a self-drive experience.
Razorback Ridge Wines is located in the picturesque Macarthur region south of Sydney. It is an hour's drive from Sydney, 40 minutes from Wollongong and minutes from Camden.
This is a small family-run vineyard and cellar door. The first vines were planted in 2000. Varieties grown include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Verdelho. All fruit is hand-picked. Wines are made on site in the winery.
Visitors can relax in the lovely rural setting overlooking the vineyard and pastures while enjoying wine tasting, cheese platters, dips and local olives.
Progressive Wine Lunches are held monthly. Vineyard and winery tours are held twice yearly.See website for details.
The cellar door is open weekends. A map can be readily downloaded from the Razorback Ridge Wines website.
