The Rutherglen Motor Inn is located 1km west of the PO and is a former goldmining town but is best known as the centre of Victoria's wine-producing district. Rutherglen is located just 10 km from the Murray River on the state border. The Rutherglen area retains a number of goldmining remnants, including the Rose of Sharon Museum which is now a walk-through underground museum. The main street has old timber buildings, verandah-fronted pubs, antique shops, bric-a-brac shops, and tearooms. Things to do and see are wineries (home of Muscat), golf, Murray River, scenic tours, or olive tasting. A minimum booking is required at weekends; a multi night discount is available as well as child concession.
There are 15 ground floor suites (including a 2 ensuite family room) and 13 non smoking rooms. It is set in 1.5 acres of gardens and the property facilities offered are barbecue area, shared microwave, shared iron and ironing board, salt water swimming pool, and a playground. Room facilities include breakfast to rooms, reverse cycle air conditioning, (5) king bed, (10) queen bed, electric blankets, mini bar, refrigerator, TV, video player, tea/coffee making facilities, toaster, clock radio, D/D phone, and cot.
